Gallery Leather has a history that we are proud of. What started out as a very small shop has grown into a company with around 35 employees who are some of the most talented, hardworking, honest, and kindest people you will ever meet. The pride they take in their work is evident in every piece we make.
Gallery Leather is not just a place where people come to earn a paycheck. It is a family. When the founder of the company passed away, the team planted an apple tree in front of our building as way to honor David. For the next 15 years the new owner passionately lead the team, putting people over profits by ensuring that the employees and their children had health insurance that was paid for by the company. As the owner contemplated retirement, he made sure that the next owner would be a good steward of the company and look out for the employees by remaining committed to keeping the production here in Maine.
When I purchased the company in March of 2019, I was motivated to do so because I valued the products and that the company made things here in Maine. I soon discovered what drove the previous owner to want to do as much as he could for the employees. Little did I realize just how much I would grow to love the people that work here. Our longest-term employee, Melissa, has been here 31 years, and still loves her job as much today as she did when she started. Our Plant Manager, Carl, has been here over 25 years, and cares deeply about his crew, his customers, and our vendors. Sam has been here over 20 years. Sam and her team of customer service reps go above and beyond to make sure our customers are happy with their purchases. I could go on and on, proudly boasting about each employee, their strengths and talents, and their personalities that make them such a pleasure to be around.
When you purchase a Gallery Leather product, you are supporting Maine families. Like Levi, the son of a lobsterman, or Andrew, a husband and proud father of four young boys, or Rita, Terri, or Andrea, three grandmothers who can’t say enough about their grandchildren. You’re supporting Cade, Dawn, Tyler, Erica, Scott, Greg, John, Brittanie, TJ, Sandy, Ron, Barry, John, Taylor, Dwayne, Prescilla, Mary, Kathy, Danny, Shelby, Norm, and Keegan. They all put their heart into making our products by hand… just for you.
We hope you will take as much pride in owning a Gallery Leather piece as we did in making it. Hearing our customer’s feedback and reviews reinforce that what we are doing is appreciated and valued. We thank you for taking time to read our story. More importantly, we thank you for your business.
